Corporate Social Responsibility
Rising beyond mere rhetoric, our company has evolved and embosomed within its sphere of influence, a set of immutable core values in the areas of Human Rights, Labor Standards, Environment, and Corruption. A zero tolerance policy is followed in the areas discussed below-:
HUMAN RIGHTSWe are committed in our support and respect for the internationally proclaimed vision of Human Rights. This is regarded not merely as an issue of statutory compliance but a benchmark specifying the lowest acceptable limits. Unless a candidate produces a birth certificate, there is no question of recruitment. We further ensure the age is verified by the Panchayat (local village body) or the Municipal Authority of that area.
This year, of the total of 121 candidates, a 109 actually joined as they met the eligibility criterion of being above the age of 18. Child labor is taboo in our organization and the contractors have to submit their reports as per the standards laid down by the Labor laws and the Factory’s Act.The “Hire and Fire” policy is not our way as we believe in long-term associations with our employees.
LABOR STANDARDS
We strictly abide by the labor standards set by ILO as a statutory requirement and consider them as an ethical issue for the organization. There is absolutely no discrimination in respect of employment on the basis of irrelevant factors like caste, color, creed, sex and place of residence etc. Merit is the overriding criteria both for employment as well as for promotion, with due regard to seniority.
The women workers are trained in the technical as well as non technical aspects. Their safety is ensured with the pick-and-drop facility offered to them. Women workers are allowed the shifts comfort in compliance with the Factory’s Act 1948.
The Trade Union of our workmen has been registered as per law, at the initiative of the management. Outside interference has been miniscule hereafter. This Trade Union has afforded a legitimate and democratic body to our workforce, to freely negotiate with the management on all matters of relevance. With the start of the twofold collective bargaining, Joint Councils and Quality Circles have been promoted. This has resulted in the active participation of workers in the management thereby leading to a cordial working environment.
Continuous efforts are made by our company for the prevention of pollution and protection of the environment by conserving natural resources such as water, petrol, diesel and raw material.
Being an ISO certified organization as regards environment management; we are audited at regular intervals by the certifying agency i.e. the Bureau of Indian Standard. Any non-conformity reported is rectified immediately.
The following objectives have been achieved during the year:
The waste water from the canteen which was earlier going into open drains is now being re-treated through the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP). It is being used for gardening.
The spillage of Hydro Chloric Acid while being transferred to the Dye House has been minimized. Special precautions and preventive measures are adopted while pumping the Hcl to the overhead Hcl storage tank with the aid of a mechanical pump manufactured especially for this purpose. By adopting this measure, we have reduced the spillage from 5% to 2%. Thus, a useful commodity is not wasted and land too is not contaminated.
Keeping in mind the safety and security of the personnel handling the Hcl, personal protection equipment (PPE) such as goggles, special gloves and shoes are provided. Special showers too have been established near the working area in order to safeguard the workmen from acid burns in case of an accident.
We have minimized air pollution with our improved technology; the ambient air is measured on a regular basis. Following results have been achieved.
